Grading GRE4T Learners

When we adopt a grading system that values completion and compliance while penalizing risk-taking, we hinder the learning process rather than support it. It’s essential to align our grading practices with research-informed strategies that effectively promote student learning for everyone.

Grading GRE4T Learners is a 2-day interactive and dynamic professional development session that equips educators with practical solutions to enhance grading methods, actions, and practices, offering tangible tools and strategies that teachers and collaborative teams can readily implement in their classrooms and schools. Participants will discover how to best impact learning and ensure that grading serves as a constructive tool and conduit to maximizing impact on student learning rather than a hindrance to student success.  Can be modified for one day based on client scheduling needs.

Participants will be able to

• Determine actions to promote desired learner traits in students so they can drive their own learning
• Utilize the power of clarity of scoring to more accurately assess and grade students based on cognitive complexity of tasks
• Establish grading and feedback actions that foster assessment capability in students
• Develop tools, templates, and student tasks that align to help you improve your grading practices
• Receive guidance on how to promote goal-setting as well as help teachers and students view grades as feedback rather than an ending point in the learning journey
• Determine multiple ways for students to show growth and progress aligned to standards and shared clarity targets and criteria
